Handfasting is a beautiful element incorporated into a wedding ceremony where the couple’s hands are symbolically bound in marriage.     
  This ancient Celtic custom has been practiced all over Europe including Scotland and The British Isles. Hand fasting also has its roots in Pagan and Wiccan ceremonies.

The term “Tieing the Knot” comes from the tradition of Handfasting.

The beautiful words and symbolism of Handfasting have become a popular element to include in today’s modern wedding ceremony.

You can buy cords in many stores including on line stores such as Etsy. You can also make your own Handfasting cord.

There are no rules to this ceremony; you can tailor it to fit your desires.
