Wine Ceremony
Unity Wine Ceremony Options
This additional ceremony element is typically done after the ring exchange.
Blending of wine to symbolize two lives blending together as one.
You will need two carafes, one with white wine, and the other with red wine, and one glass (the common cup). Kits with your initials and wedding date monogrammed on them can be found online.

Option 1.
Officiant: Now we shall celebrate ____ and _____ blending of your two lives into one, as it is symbolized with a wine ceremony.
One carafe contains red wine representing the deep richness of the love in their hearts and the robust energy which keeps their loving relationship going. The other carafe contains white wine, fermented in oak barrels, it represents the strength of a loving marriage and a lingering taste in their soul for the love they feel for each other. They will combine some of the two wines into the common cup, creating a rosé, which is symbolic of their blending together through a committed relationship in marriage. Some of the wine will remain in their individual carafes which represents that each of them remain separate individuals
Officiant: _____ and _____, you will now pour some of the wine from your carafe into the Common Cup.
The couple each add wine from their carafe into the common cup
Officiant: This cup is a sign of your unity. Although you are two distinct persons, both respecting the equal dignity of the other, you have chosen to unite your lives and to seek your happiness together. You drink from the same cup to be reminded that from this day forward you will share all that is to come, encompassing all sorrows and joys, all hardships and triumphs, all the experiences of life,
Drink now, and may the cup of your lives be sweet and full to overflowing
Officiant hands Common Cup to the couple they take turns drinking from it
**Note-The couple may toast each other as they drink with, "To our lives together” or “To us” and drinks from the glass.
They place the wine glasses back and turn back to the officiant
Officiant: May the robust energy, strength, and rich love you have for each other be with you always.
~we walk back to center and continue the ceremony~

Option 2.
Officiant: _____and ___ shall now perform a Unity Wine Ceremony. The wine sharing ceremony is a delightful ceremony embracing traditions that began well before the medieval period. During those times a bride and groom would celebrate their pledge to each other by drinking wine from a single cup which symbolized one blood, one family and one kin. The wine ceremony that _____ and _____ will perform today is a visual representation of the joining of these two very special people.
Officiant: _____ and _____ these two carafes of wine represent your individual spirits; all that you are, all that you have been, and all that you will become. This Common Cup in the center is your marriage It is the place where you are forever blending your lives together. It represents the joining of two spirits, two lives, two souls.
Officiant: As you pour your wine, keep in mind the pledge you made to each other today. It is the pledge of the truth and purity of your every breath, the constant friendship of your hearts. The passion of your spirits and the deepest love your souls have to give. It is the pledge of all that is within you, the only true pledge that one heart can offer to another
Officiant: _____ and _____, you will now pour some of the wine from your carafe into the Common Cup.
(the couple takes turns pouring their wine into the common cup, leaving some in the carafe to represent their individual selves)
Now your two individual lives are combined, like the two wines. You are choosing to blend your lives together and yet, you are still individuals, you remain yourselves. Drink now in celebration of your pledge and the blending of your lives
Officiant hands Common Cup to Groom who drinks and then hands it to Bride who drinks
**Note-The couple may toast each other as they drink with, "Now our lives are one" or "To our lives together” or “To us” and drinks from the glass.
They place the wine glasses back and turn back to the officiant
Officiant: May you remember this day of commitment you have sealed with drinking of the new wine joining your lives as one.
~we walk back to center and continue the ceremony~

Option 3 – A simple toast at the end of the ceremony-after the pronouncement. It is said as a benediction. (A sendoff/final blessing)
Officiant: Wine is the symbol of joy and celebration.
Throughout history, in nearly all cultures and traditions, the sharing of a cup of wine has been used as a universal, central moment of sharing during significant moments. For many it symbolizes the celebration of the harvest, the changing seasons of life, or the ultimate personal sacrifice which others have made on our behalf.
Wine is, after all, the result of years of hard work, the tender care of the grape, a thoughtful mix of ingredients, the patient fermenting, and the unique flavors of each year.
So it is fitting that _____ and ___ take their first cup of wine as a married couple , to not only celebrate all that has taken pace in their lives to this point, but as an expression of hope and faith in the harvest of their lives, the commitment they make, and the sacrifice of all whom has made this moment possible.
_____ and ___, will you each pick up your glass and bring to mind your promises, the honor and integrity with you have made them and your shared hopes and dreams… and toast to one another?
Couple raises their glasses toast and drink

Option 4 Vintners wine ceremony
I wrote this for a couple who made their own wine for their wedding and we incorporated it into the ceremony
Officiant:In a special expression of their unifying commitment to their newly formed marriage, Eric and Justin will now partake in a special and truly apropos Vintner’s, Unity Wine Ceremony.
We will step over to the table with the wine on it. Eric and Justin should stand on either side; remember to face each other or the guests.
The Unity Wine Ceremony ritual is done as a symbol of unity and is a sealing of the previously made vows, the Wine Ceremony of Eric and Justin includes the added dimension of being celebrated with wine of their own making. They are indeed the winemakers or Vintners of This Unity Wine Ceremony.
Wine is a symbol of joy and celebration. The making of wine takes time, devotion and care, as does an enduring marriage.
So it is fitting that Eric and Justin take their first glass of wine as a married couple, to not only celebrate all that has taken place in their lives to this point, but as an expression of hope and faith in the harvest of their lives and the vows and pledges they have made to one another on this day.
Eric and Justin, will you each pick up your glass and bring to mind your promises, the honor and integrity with which you have made them and your shared hopes and dreams… and toast to one another.

Option 1 open every year/romantic time capsule(this is my personal favorite)
Officiant: _____ and ___ have chosen to celebrate their marriage with a Love Letter and Wine Box ceremony.
Love letters are a timeless classic. What could be more romantic than to give your partner a handwritten letter that describes the good qualities that you find in them, the reasons you fell in love, and are choosing to marry them.
Yet the true magic of a love letter is more than just the words it contains. It shows effort made and time taken. To put your feelings and thoughts in words, you let your partner know how much you really care and express your feelings in a way that goes beyond a text, e-mail, or even the spoken word. They are our private communication, words shared between two and unnoticed by the world around us.
Wine is a symbol of joy and celebration. It is traditionally used as a universal, central moment of sharing during joyous occasions.
There is a saying “Good relationships never stop growing. Like fine wine, they get better with age” Wine is, after all, the result of years of hard work, the tender care of the grape, a thoughtful mix of ingredients, the patient fermenting, and the unique flavors of each year.
Note: If you are using a special bottle of wine, such as from your favorite winery, a bottle you purchased on vacation etc... personalize the ceremony by mentioning that here. Example: _____ and ___’s ceremony includes the added dimension of being celebrated with a very special bottle wine they brought back from a trip they took together to Portugal. It hold a piece of their history, a piece of their hearts.
Officiant to couple: _____ and ___ please place your love letters in the box with your bottle of wine and seal it.
(Couple places letters in box and seals the box, then go back to their places)
You have created your very own "romantic" time capsule.
On your 1st anniversary, open the box, read the love letters, pop open the bottle of wine, and celebrate!
Then, write each other a new love letter, get a new bottle of wine, and repeat every year.
Just imagine how beautiful it will be to read these letters year after year, documenting your lives together and reminding you of the love you share.
I recommend that you keep the box in a place of honor prominently displayed in your home as a constant reminder of your commitment to each other.
